on to another topic, we received our copy of friday article made by iya, one particular article caught my eyes almost immediately... no, it's not bcoz i've never read it b4, in fact, i've read it tons of times, again and again, though the phrases and words used might differ in each poem...

"Wht do u see when u look at me
Do u see some1 limited
or some1 free
All some ppl can do is juz look and stare
Simply bcoz they cant see my hair
Others think i am controlled and uneducated
They think i am limited an un-liberated
They are so thankful tht they are not me
Bcoz they would like to remain 'free'
Well, free isnt exactly the word i would've used
Describing women who are cheated on and abused.
They think tht i do not have opinions or voice
They think tht being hooded isnt my choice
They think tht the hood makes me look caged
Tht my husband or dad are totally outraged
All they can do is look at me in fear
And in my eye there is tear
Not bcoz i have been stared at or made fun of
But bcoz ppl are ignoring the ONE up above
On the day of judgement they will be the fools
Bcoz they were too ashamed to play by their own rules.
Maybe the guys wont think i'm a cutie
But at least i am filled with more inner beauty
See, i have declined frm being a guy's toy
Bcoz i wont let myself be controlled by a boy
Real men are able to appreciate my mind
And arent busy looking at my behind.
Hooded girls are the ones really helping the Muslim cause
The role tht we play definitely deserves applause
I will be recognized bcoz i am smart and bright
And bcoz some ppl are inspired by my sight
The smart ones are attracted by my tranquility
In the back of their mind they wish they were me.
We have the strength to do wht we think is right
Even if it means putting up a long fight
You see, we are not controlled by a mini skirt and tight shirt
We are given only respect, and never treated like dirt
So u see, we are the ones tht are free and liberated
We are not the ones tht are sexually terrorized and violated
We are the ones tht are free and pure
We're free of STDs tht have no cure...
So, when ppl ask us how we feel about the hood
Just sum it up by saying: baby, it's all good"

the poem basically talks about muslim women who covers their head... personally speaking, i knw tht wearing a head cover *scarf* isnt as easy for muslim women as ppl might think.. there are internal conflicts within ourselves at times about wearing the scarf, and yet we press on and push forward, still wearing the scarf, day in and day out, without fail, with the thought and hope tht Allah will bless and love us more and give us a place in the Jannah... *insyaAllah*
and so, all tht i wanna say is tht, it's not really helpful when ppl around us start giving us weird looks which might discourage us frm wearing the scarf.. do try to understand the fact tht wearing a head cover is a "wajib" hukum *as in a MUST* for muslim women once they have reached puberty *baligh* wht saddens me the most is the fact tht some fellow muslims can even make statements which are discouraging towards women wearing scarfs.. for us who have been wearing the scarf for a while, we might be able to withstand the 'test' *dugaan* but wht about those who are juz trying to get used to wearing the tudung.. dont u thnk tht i'll b too much for them to take in and adapt to...
and so, as a muslim women, i pledge everyone to look deeper into us.. behind the veils / head covering, we're juz the same as u ppl who arent wearing the scarf.. mochiron, we have different believes, religions, etc... but tht doesnt have to stop us frm being good friends with each other right? we can still help each other out in tons of thgs and live happily with each other without having to fight about our beliefs... after all, this is a world where there is freedom of having one's own religion and freedom of speaking up, rite?

p/s:
*to my fellow muslim friends who are wearing tudung alredi---> keep it up minna!! insyaAllah, Allah will repay us in the hereafter...
*to my fellow muslim friends who are having 2nd thoughts about wearing the tudung ---> u really shouldnt have those thoughts.. wearing a scarf is really comforting and protects u frm tons of bad thgs out there... juz continue to believe in Allah and He will definitely help u out...
*to my friends who still arent wearing tudung even when u're supposed to ---> u're missing out a lot... wearing tudung somehow gets u step closer to Allah... with the tudung, u're bound to change bad behaviors and act more appropriately along the muslim way of life...
p/s #2 : i knw i'm not a perfect muslim.. i dont even knw whether i can be called as a mukmin or not, though i really hope tht i can... it's rather obvious tht i'm still in the learning phase and am still trying to be a perfect muslim... and so, if any1 feels tht i dont have a right to say any such thgs stated above bcoz of my position, i'm really sorry for tht.. but, i'm definitely not sorry for my writing.. i'm juz trying to pass a msg of Allah and His Rasul, so tht if ever i die, insyaAllah, i'll be able to say tht i've passed His commands around.... wallahualam...
